Company Description:
Taber Consultants, founded in 1954 as part of the Moore & Taber organization, is one of the nation's older firms begun specifically as a practice in geotechnical engineering. Taber is an organization of foundation engineers and engineering geologists offering consulting services to clients who require information, evaluation and recommendations regarding earth materials and subsurface/geologic conditions for project planning and engineering. The Taber Consultants professional staff includes four registered Civil Engineers (in California, Oregon, and Nevada), three California registered Geotechnical Engineers; and four Certified Engineering Geologists (California and Oregon).
Typical Taber Consultants project types include:
• bridges,
• heavy and light rail,
• interchanges,
• buildings,
• earth dams,
• landslide control,
• water tanks,
• waste water treatment ponds,
• roadways,
• land development, and
• construction materials surveys.
A major – although not exclusive – element of the company's work has been making or directing earth materials studies for California's cities and counties on their transportation systems. Bridge foundation, roadway alignment/design and storm damage repair studies -- most with state or federal financing (meeting Caltrans and FHWA design and construction criteria) -- have been a primary service to these organizations. Taber Consultants has performed well over 2500 individual bridge site investigations, a majority of these with State or Federal financing and meeting Caltrans and FHWA criteria in design and construction. This office has also made hundreds of geotechnical roadway investigations including extensive portions of new and reconstructed alignments.
We are capable of rapid scheduling and mobilization of our own drilling equipment for your projects. Using in-house drilling equipment, Taber Consultants provides increased quality field studies and soil sampling without compromising field-study protocols or procedures. Timely data is acquired consistently and effectively, resulting in reduced costs to clients and rapid response times to their needs.
Refraction seismic and resistivity geophysical exploration equipment is available for shallow earth materials evaluation and we also have the capability to complete downhole seismic studies for site specific seismic evaluation of “critical” facilities. Our fully-equipped geotechnical laboratory meets requirements of typical soils engineering and research studies.
